The fight against Ebola in Guinea

In response to the Ebola outbreak, Guinea Red Cross Society has trained and mobilized 400 volunteers to work in the affected areas such as here in the market of Matoto (in Conakry, the capital), to raise awareness among communities on how to protect themselves from becoming infected
Since April 2014, the European Commission has been funding the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support the Guinean Red Cross with the difficult task at hand: sensitising communities affected by Ebola about the risks of contamination, the need to isolate people suspected of having caught the virus, tracing people who may have been in touch with Ebola sufferers, desinfecting houses and buildings and ensuring safe burials.
