The death of Guest Blogging in SEO
It was only a matter of time before it happened and though it may upset many in the SEO World, Google has made a stance against web spam yet again and I for one applaud them. For too long, guest blogging was a great way to achieve authority in your niche and to get your ranks increased whilst building relevant and quality links from the content you write. However, as with everything in the world, there are too many who exploit this situation and make it worse for everyone else and now google has launched a war against guest bloggers and guest blogging in general. This also means that many private blogging networks are about to be hit too.
Google’s own general in the spam terror was has made the announcement this evening;
Okay, I’m calling it: if you’re using guest blogging as a way to gain links in 2014, you should probably stop. Why? Because over time it’s become a more and more spammy practice, and if you’re doing a lot of guest blogging then you’re hanging out with really bad company. Matt Cutts.
Internet Gorilla Warfare – Its Double edged
Time will tell and I have no doubt this will come into affect soon and whilst you may think your site is safe, I would urge you to study the content on your site and the links pointing to them. In 2014 SEO and Online marketing is only going to become harder and google does often play God when it comes to the net, but let’s play devils advocate for a moment. With google gaining too much power and controlling the lives of individuals are they not causing the internet gorilla warfare by forcing good businesses to try to exploit these tactics because Google God’s have made things almost impossible or do you feel what they do is justified. No matter what the consensus is, I for one know that we will have to dance to the Google tune until one day David comes gain to slay Goliath. I often wonder if there is a better way to approach this online battle by learning to balance the cause and effect of both sides.
We all hate webspam and we know that a stand has to be taken but at what cost. There are many wonderful guest bloggers who offer quality and value for the reader, is the trade off for a link really that wrong and surely there is another way to control this and make it better for everyone without hitting real quality guest blogging.
We would like to hear your thoughts on what this means to you and your business. Contact us and let us know how you think this will affect your business in 2014.

It is clear the warning has been there and one has to consider if this is all just scare tactics or if there is a real underlying threat coming from google. Yes we want to stop spam, but we also want to be fair to those who do guest blogging for others to gain exposure and share knowledge.
